May seems to be coming in with a shout weather wise! We have had storm after storm, and some have been severe.
Here in the Midwest, we expect this type of weather, and we try to prepare for them. There are early warning signs and up to the minute broadcasts telling us when and where the storm is and to be prepared.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was an early warning system for life's unexpected storms? What if we could be told how to prepare and where to take shelter.
Life's unexpected storms come all too often as a bad report from the Doctor, or a financial set back, or the loss of a spouse or family member.
These sudden storms tend to paralyze us and stop us in or tracks. If only there was a way to be ready. For those who have placed their trust in the creator of all life, there is a recorded plan.
The Bible has a number of life's game plans, and there are over 365 times in the Bible that we are told to not fear. Fear is the weapon of our enemy to stop us from looking to the source of our hope.
Just two examples of this reassurance are found in the Book of Psalm; the first is in Chapter 46 and verses 1-2; God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the sea. So, a great reminder not to fear!
Yet another one in the book of Psalm is found in Chapter 121 and it gives us instruction on what we should do in times of trouble, it says; I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? And then the answer; My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth. It goes on to say whether day or night he watches over us, and his promise is to never leave us or forsake us.
Just a short time ago Dave Hultgren's Daughter Alli and her Husband Preston received news that their Son Brody had a form of leukemia.
There is no way to be prepared to hear this kind of news, yet as ones who know where they place their trust, they were comforted by the words of encouragement and prayers offered up by so many Brotherhood members. Brody will continue to have treatments, and we believe he will continue to heal and enjoy a full and productive life.
The unexpected storms of life come unannounced and without warning, be prepared as much as possible, trust in the one who created you and resist the temptation to fear. Reach out to those around you and draw close to those who will lift you up in prayer and tell you what you need to hear.
Make sure to celebrate your Mothers in a few days as they are the bedrock of all our future generations.
